I purchased this unit as an upgrade to the facility original Cd\radio in my 2006 Ford Freestyle. A local radio center will start broadcasting in Hd this summer so I wanted to be ready with a receiver with a built-in Hd tuner. Since no stations in my area currently broadcast in Hd, I can't annotation on that function, but I can annotation on other features. First, the narrative on the Amazon website says this unit is satellite radio ready, and this is incorrect. The only way to combine satellite radio is straight through an antenna bypass, which I had before, so was no big deal for me. agreeing to the Pioneer website if you want a truly satellite radio ready tuner, you'd need the Pioneer Deh-P8300Ub, which ironically also requires an add-on Hd tuner in order to have both functions. Second, the facility was quite easy using the recommended adapters and wiring harness. It took about 1/2 hour to have the Pioneer installed and working. Third, the sound ability compared to the original radio is excellent, especially when playing Cd's. The old unit did not have an Aux input, so I can't correlate handling of Mp3. I can say, however that the unit's Mp3 correction principles seems to be excellent. I played Beethoven's 9th symphony on Cd and over my Mp3 player and couldn't hear any disagreement in the sound ability when switching between Cd and Aux input. One qoute is the disagreement in volume between input sources. The Cd playback is much louder than the radio, which is in turn much louder than the Aux input. The many operate dial on the unit makes naturally changing the volume difficult. If you press in on the knob at all it switches to menu mode and you end up in the discrete mode and sound settings rather than naturally changing the volume. Plus once you have entered the menu mode it is difficult to turn the knob back into a straightforward volume control. I suppose Pioneer expects you to use the remote operate to do something straightforward like changing the volume, but when driving it's risky and difficult to find the remote, and volume controls instead of naturally doing the intuitive thing of spinning the operate knob. wide I would suggest this unit for man like me who wants to modernize an aging original sound principles with good playback, Aux inputs and the ability of Hd radio tuning.
